Each year at the Academic Games National Tournament, AGLOA honors outstanding seniors who have been excellent players and who have contributed in special ways beyond themselves to their own local Academic Games teams and programs. Outstanding Senior candidates are nominated by their local coaches and programs.
In 2014, AGLOA enjoyed a bumper crop of incredible Seniors - eight award winners.
Each Outstanding Senior will be highlighted in more detail in the monthly AGazines at agloa.org.
At the 2014 Academic Games National Tournament five Outstanding Educators were honored. In reality, each of them was honoring AGLOA with their long history of giving to their players and to the AGLOA organization.
Each GAVE and GAVE and GAVE to their own players, preparing them academically and emotionally to handle the pressure of competition. Many of the hours were outside of school, sometimes in their own homes. For these extra hours, there was no tangible reward — NO TAKE, only GIVE. Their students loved them for these contributions and flourished under their tutelage and guidance. They are heroines.
In addition, the five went beyond coaching their own students and contributed selflessly to other players and to the AGLOA organization. Questions were submitted for the reading games, scores were managed for entire divisions of competitors, and other efforts were made for the good of all players at all times. Each of the five did these things with smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts.
The spirit of GIVING without asking for anything in return is a foundational principle in successful human relations. It is a principle that is often forgotten because we are all a bit self-centered at times. But, the spirit of GIVING produces incredible benefits.
The five Outstanding Educators honored in Knoxville clearly modeled the spirit of GIVING for all of us. Our organization is grateful to these five as representative of all Academic Games coaches.

My great grandfather signed the Declaration of Independence. North and South Dakota were admitted to the Union, but no one knows which was the 39th state and which was the 40th state.
