First Impressions Are Everything – Part II

Last month, we talked about the importance of the first meeting with Academic Games recruits. Now, we continue on that theme.

If possible at the first session, include something fun that is not directly related to Academic Games. Have snacks and drinks available. Involve students in a silly game like stacking cubes or tossing cubes. At whatever session students begin practicing the first game, reward them with candy for each right answer or victorious shake. Even older students like these little treats.

In general, do everything you can think of to keep students coming to practices. Obtain suggestions from veteran players concerning what will work with newcomers.
