This is the third of a series of Coaching Tips pointing out important distinctions made in the new Propaganda Guide. This one deals with Emotional Terms in Section B.
As stated in the Propaganda game booklet, emotional terms are allowed in patriotic speeches, church services, poetry, and other situations where a person is not attempting to persuade others. However, the example must make clear that a non-controversial situation is involved. Otherwise, the answer defaults to Emotional Terms.
Example
The president is allowed emotional language while giving a 4th of July speech to honor deceased members of the armed forces but not while campaigning for office or promoting or defending his policies.
