EQ * and ^

WFF’N PROOF has changed the EQUATIONS cubes to print a ^ instead of an * to represent “take to the power of.”

In mathematics and on all computers, it is the ^ which represents exponentiation, rather than *, which represents multiplication on computers.

For instance, in a computer program, 17*2 means 17 times two, not 17 to the 2nd power. In a computer program, 17^2 means 17 to the power of 2.

EQUATIONS has always used * to mean “take to the power of.”

THAT WILL CONTINUE TO BE TRUE INTO THE FUTURE. IN EQUATIONS, 5*2 WILL CONTINUE TO MEAN 5 TO THE POWER OF 2.

IN ADDITION, THE ^ SYMBOL WILL MEAN THE SAME THING. 5^2 MEANS 5 TO THE POWER OF 2.

In other words, in EQUATIONS, * and ^ mean the same thing, indefinitely into the future, since we have old games and the newly published ones with ^.

Please alert all math coaches, because there will be both old and new games at the national tournaments.  Heck, some coaches still have games that are 30 years old or older.
