2022 National Tournament Announcement

Dear Academic Games friends,

I hope that you and your families are healthy and that you’re having a safe and prosperous new year. We have had a trying past couple of years in Academic Games, as we’ve tried to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.

As we have moved into 2022, the AGLOA Board of Directors and Tournament Council are proud to announce that we are planning to have an in-person national tournament April 22-25 at the Knoxville Convention Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Click here to read the tournament announcement for more details, including costs and important measures that we are taking to try to keep everyone safe. Of course, there are concerns and stipulations that go with having an in-person tournament, but we are establishing protocols to try to minimize the exposure during the tournament. Our planning will continue, utilizing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and local mandates.

Please review the tournament announcement, and additionally, local league directors can complete the Preliminary Tournament Registration Form to give us an idea of whether your area will plan on attending the national tournament, along with how many participants you anticipate bringing. This estimate isn’t binding; rather, it serves to provide us with an idea of what our tournament numbers might look like if you’re able to attend the tournament. We understand that the pandemic situation is evolving constantly, but we’re asking that you provide your best guess about numbers at this point. League directors can contact Nancy Kinard to receive a copy of the preliminary registration form.

More details will be forthcoming, but we wanted to confirm that we are tentatively planning an in-person tournament to allow everyone to plan accordingly.

We’re looking forward to having everyone back together in Knoxville. If you have more specific questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Rod Beard
AGLOA Executive Director
