AGLOA’s 2020 Winter Invitational

This week, AGLOA hosted our first Winter Invitational, a two-day online competition in the four reading games. Our goal was to keep students and coaches engaged in Academic Games virtually during the winter break because most of us can’t all be together in person in school.

It was a resounding success, with more than 150 participants total, including representation from each of our participating states, and from each of the age divisions. Unlike the in-person local competitions and national tournament, the focus wasn’t on the top scores, but in brightening our students’ break times with an opportunity to compete in the games they love.

The Winter Invitational provided students a chance to participate in sessions of the four reading games: Theme, Presidents, Current Events and Propaganda. The results from the Winter Invitational can be found online here.

In lieu of trophies, we decided to award Amazon gift cards to 12 random student participants, who were notified individually.

We thank everyone for participating and spending a few hours of your break with us. We are looking forward to having more similar competitions in each game in the coming months.

Sincerely,

AGLOA Return-to-Play Committee
