Use the Summer Break

Just as athletes are given conditioning goals and drills on fundamentals to do during the summer break, Academic Games players should be given activities that will prepare them for the new school year. For example, you can divide the presidents among the players and have them prepare notes on each of the ones they are assigned. You should give each student a list of information they are to obtain for each president as well as a list of websites where they can find it. It is also good to do one president yourself and give it to players either as a handout or in electronic form (e.g., a MS Word file) to give them an example of what you want.
