With the start of a new school year comes the start of recruiting season for all extra-curricular activities in each school. Academic Games must compete against a growing number of in-school and out-of-school activities that appeal to young people.
What does Academic Games offer that other activities do not? For starters, there’s the annual national tournament which few activities (including athletics) offer. Yet, for a newcomer, April is a long way off and an impossible dream for one who is just learning. So it is good to talk about or—better yet—have a player himself or herself who came to Academic Games with no experience and qualified for Nationals the very first year retell their experience.
Utilize current players to attract recruits. Students respond better to speakers closer to their own age.
