Until 2001, the Louisiana leagues representing three different parishes (Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Bernard) competed in the Louisiana Tournament of Champions. The tournament was designed to prepare students who qualified for and planned to attend the annual AGLOA National Tournament.
After a ten year break, a similar tournament was started in 2011. The Louisiana Academic Games Invitational Tournament has the same format as it predecessor tournament–students play two rounds of On-Sets and two rounds of Equations.
